Petra Kaksonen is a Vancouver-based Finnish designer with more than 20 years of graphic design and art direction experience in working with clients in North America, Europe and Japan.
Inspired by simplicity and functionality of Nordic design, Petra designs & develops custom interior textiles and product collections (art prints, patterns, products, rugs, throws, pillows, bedding) for modern homes and spaces.
Petra believes in fostering long-term relationships with trusted global partners and creating together well-loved, beautiful, everyday products that enhance and enrich our lives and living spaces.
Petra grew up in Finland where she spent her childhood running around in polkadots and stripes – clothes made by her feisty, fashion-forward Karelian grandmother – igniting a deep passion for bold patterns and textiles. Surrounded by lakes and forests, Petra's summer cabin in Eastern Finland is her creative, happy place that brings endless source of inspiration and joy.
Years spent traveling around the world – especially her time in Japan and Africa has left a lasting impression on Petra.
Petra worked 12 years at The Vancouver Sun and the Westcoast Homes & Design magazine specializing in publication design, advertising and marketing campaigns for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, The Vancouver Sun Run and Raise-a-Reader campaign among many others. Petra is currently the art director at the award-winning Business in Vancouver magazine.
